Famed Penn State University football coach Joe Paterno has been fired as a shocking abuse scandal tears through the campus. The pressure was on Paterno since the arrest of Athletic Director Tim Curley and another administrator, Gary Schultz. They are charged with lying to a grand jury and failing to report claims that a former football coordinator abused several young boys. Paterno also knew of the activity, but wasn't charged with a crime. At the center of the scandal is Jerry Sandusky, 67, who is facing 40 counts of various forms of abuse. Prosecutors say he was involved with eight boys between 1994 and 2009. Some sources claim there may be as many as 17 victims. Sandusky allegedly met his victims through his own youth charity, The Second Mile. Curley and Schultz were made aware of the abuses in 2002 when they met with then-graduate assistant Mike McQueary, who reported seeing Sandusky with a 10-year-old boy in a school shower. Other incidents allegedly took place at Sandusky's home and at a high school. One boy claimed Sandusky plied him with lavish gifts and marijuana. The two administrators each posted 000 bail. Penn State is paying their legal fees, citing the charges have to do with how they performed their jobs. Sandusky was released on 0000 bail.

The Coach patch, creed and serial number is the number 1 topic of conversation when the authenticity of a Coach purse is being discussed. Nobody wants to buy a counterfeit bag. Everybody wants to know for sure if their bag is authentic, particularly when buying from an online auction like eBay. But is this mysterious serial number a true indicator? In a word, NO.

First, a true serial number is unique. Finding a Coach patch with an actual unique serial number is next to impossible. Coach hasn't used a true serial number for about 10 years. Sure, the older bags had true serial numbers, but not anymore. The myths , urban legends or simple un-truths surrounding "the patch" have caused many a girl to go into a panicked frenzy of sorts after receiving a bag that had a patch with no numbers or worse yet, no patch at all!

The fact is not all bags have them. Actually, most do not! Nobody really knows for certain what determines Coach's decision to place a leather creed patch with numbers in certain bags but a general rule of thumb is this: If Coach deems the purse a handbag, it will have a leather creed patch with numbers . Items not counting as handbags would include wristlets, mini skinny's, cosmetic pouch bags and other Accessories. There will sometimes be leather patches with the creed, but not any numbers in these smaller accessory type products. The numbers, when present, represent the style number and a code of date of manufacture. So you will see the same style number on every bag of that style but you might find some bags with different numbers other than the style numbers. The numbers can also contain letters.
There are more than a few different creeds but the most common ones will read something like these:

Most of the leather patches are beautifully embossed. Some of the newer bags have a metallic cursive style writing on them rather than an embossing. Some of the accessory type bags, as mentioned above, will not have any numbers but may still have a creed of sorts, usually a shorter version of the above examples.

Another misconception is that Coach bags are made in the USA and that anything made in China must be fake. This is not true and it's hard to believe so many people believe it. Coach hasn't made bags in the USA for about 10 years and 90% or more of their products are manufactured in China. There are other countries too such as Turkey, Italy, Pakistan, Mexico and India among others. You will almost always see the word China on their creed patches.

The bottom line is that just because a Coach bag is without a leather creed, does not mean it's a knockoff. Most companies manufacturing fake bags would put one in anyways. It might not be the correct style numbers. It might not be leather. It might have words spelled incorrectly. Still, it will likely be there with a fake bag. So don't get too excited by a "no patch" bag. Instead, learn the style number of your bag and if it has a patch, see that it matches the numbers on the creed. Check for incorrect spellings. Make sure the patch is actually leather. To recap, if it's a small pouch bag, cosmetic bag, wristlet or other accessory, it likely shouldn't have one in it anyway. Of course, there are exceptions to this Accessories rule, but it's accurate most of the time. Some of the more expensive accessories will have the full creed in them such as limited edition items.

A layup is a shot that is performed by leaping from below the net, pushing the ball up near to the basket and tipping it over the rim and into the basket with one hand. Alternatively the ball may be bounced off the backboard instead and into the basket. All moves involving this kind of one-handed reach and movement is known as a layup and is considered the most basic shot in basketball.

Essentially there are 2 types of layups, the underarm layup and the over arm layup. While there are several various types of layups, they all fall into one of these 2 categories.

An undefended layup is a very successful shot and refers to when the ball handler is able to get up to the basket without a defender going up too to try to block him off. The main difficulty in doing a layup shot is going around the blocks of the taller defenders so if the shot is unblocked it will surely be more successful.

A slam dunk which is perhaps the most popular of all basketball shots is simply a layup done by a player tall enough to reach over the rim of the basket, who then drops or slams the ball into the basket from above rather than just tipping it over the rim. A safer layup is done by holding the ball in both hands instead of only one and taking 2 steps to the basket.

The finger-roll is a type of underarm layup that entails the use of the wrist and the fingers to 'lay' the ball in the basket. The movement of the wrist and fingers causes the ball to spin and roll around the rim before falling into the basket.

A jump shot is another well-known basketball move in which the player jumps straight up and throws the ball while in mid-air into the basket. The jump shot is thought to be the easiest long-range shot and gives the benefit of being tricky for a defender to block however, taller defenders will make it a hard move to carry out. A variation of the jump shot is a turnaround jump shot in which a player turns in mid-air to make the shot.

Another basketball shot is the bank shot which relies on the backboard for getting the ball into the basket. It is primarily used in mid-range jump shots. The goal of the bank shot is to hit the backboard at an angle which slows the ball down and heightens the likelihood of it dropping through the basket.
